(This FAQ applies only to users who created a Shnap account instead of signing in with their Facebook account. Users who sign in with Facebook do not need to verify their accounts.)
When you create a Shnap account, a verification email is automatically sent to your email address. To verify your account, simply reply to that email or follow the link in the email.
If you need us to resend the verification email, simply enter the email address you used to create the Shnap account below. If you don't receive our verification email within 15 minutes, email us at support@shnap.com immediately. It is likely that you mis-typed your email address when you first signed up.
Awww shnap that must suck. If you have forgotten your password, you can request a password reset on the sign in screen. You will receive an email with instructions for resetting your password. If you didn't receive a reset email, it is very likely that you mistyped your email address when you created your Shnap account. Please email us at support@shnap.com and we'll help you fix things up.
By allowing you to register and sign in with your Facebook account, we eliminate the need for you to create yet another user account and remember another username/password combination. Sign in with your Facebook account (which is super easy if you already use the Facebook app on your iPhone), pick a Shnap username, and you are ready to play!
Your Facebook profile information (including your real name) does not appear anywhere in Shnap. Your Shnap username is how people will know you on Shnap.
Shnap users can search for your Shnap profile if they know the exact email address associated with your Shnap account. This makes it easy for people who know you to find your Shnap profile.
When you sign in with your Facebook account, we automatically add your friends on Facebook who are already playing Shnap as your friends in Shnap. You can always remove them from your friends list in Shnap at any time. At no point during the sign in process do we send invites or notifications or post on anyone's walls in Facebook.
We don't share your Facebook information with third parties or post anything to Facebook on your behalf without your explicit permission. (In fact we don't use it much apart from signing you in and automatically connecting you to your Facebook friends who are already playing Shnap.) The only time we post to your Facebook account is when you explicitly post one of your shnaps to Facebook. We don't send your friends notifications or crap all over your news feed to spread the word about Shnap. We figured that if you liked Shnap enough, you'd know how to tell your friends about us. ;-)
If a friend sends you an invite email in Shnap, the email will contain an Invite Code that you can use when you sign into Shnap for the first time. When you redeem an Invite Code, both you and the person who invited you will get a few bonus XPs and $Bs. Inviting your friends to play Shnap is an easy way to earn some XPs!
It's the number of ratings you have on each shnap that matters, not the total number of ratings across all your shnaps.
Every 5 ratings you get for a single shnap earns you 1 XP. Since you can't rate a shnap more than once, this means that you'll need at least 5 people to rate one of your shnaps to earn 1 XP.
Interestingly, getting 5 ratings is also how you "break even" on a shnap. Recall that posting a shnap costs you 10 $B, but every rating earns you back 2 $B (5 x 2 $B = 10 $B).
Shnaps uploaded or recommended by your friends will bubble up your Rate! stream, as will shnaps that are especially popular or relevant to your current geographic location. Check your Rate! stream often as it's always changing.
The best way to personalize your Rate! stream is to get your friends to join you on Shnap!
